![]() This is why Tailscale support is important and should be incorporated into the My Cloud Home firmware. Tailscale could also allow the remote access of My Cloud Home without using Western Digital servers which could be shut down without much notice as we saw in early April, 2023. Incorporating Tailscale as described above for generalized remote access through any supported OS (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux) and non-WD third party mobile apps.WD Discovery from the desktop (WD Discovery is being deprecated by June, 2023, although as of early July it is still working).Remote operation with multiple files and folders can be done currently by using either: ![]() ![]() This original thread is more about copying a ‘shared a folder to my friend’ which is a remote operation because his friend is most likely not in the same location as the My Cloud Home and has no access to the USB port. Thank you for the screen post which describes copying multiple files and folders in a local USB accessible environment. After you can select to copy from My Cloud Home device to the USB. ![]() Then go to the menu on the left and select “Copy USB” (see screenshot). Those M圜loud Home drives are so utterly useless I didnt even wanna sell them on, I just cracked them open, took out the only well working thing, which is the harddrives and the rest of it went straight in to the bin. Yeah I know some of those things has been somewhat fixed by now, but it took years to make things the way they simply shouldve been from the start. Network access was there, except you couldnt assign a static driveletter for it aso the list goes on. Thats how it is all the way with those drives, everything is thjere, just except some crucial detail, like PLEX was added, great, except it wont take subfolders and hence it was useless. I ended up doing what ive been doing evéry time with those drives, using a workaround, where I added all the files (videos and pics) to the same album and then I was able to download the album, but simply selecting all the files didnt work, because it has some odd limit of how many files can be selected for download…yet another weirdo thing about their software. The reason it wont let me copy the whole private folder is because it wont let me access the folder locally, even though I went to the online control panel and set the username and password and used that to access it locally, then still I was being told that the folder wasnt accesible. My Synology DS220 is currently up and running and guess what wiseguy, its running with the 3 and 4 TB WD Red disks that I removed from my otherwise useless WD home cloud drives. Typically at 600 KBps for small files, 1.5 MBps for larger files which is near the limited upload speed for this 5G data plan.īelow is an example download of an entire fiolder from MCH to a remote Android mobile (5G data) via Tailscale subnet routing of MCH without using the My Cloud Home app or WDC relay servers Copy of Public LAN share is also possible, all remotely with mobile 5GUC data in this case. Tailscale is free for personal use.Īn example of My Cloud Home (MCH) mch4 private share tailscale copy (upload) remotely. But since WDD will no longer be further supported after June 2023, there must be a different solution and there is: This has been possible for a while now if you are familiar with Tailscale and its subnet routing functionality that allows native desktop file manager integration as well as mobile app support using any third party file manager such as Android ‘ File Manager +’ which has network SMB LAN support. This has always been possible with the desktop file manager integration of WD Discovery. Once i have shared a folder to my friend with some photos and he had to click at every single photo and download it. ![]() It will be really helpful, if it’s possible, to download multiple files or folders at once. ![]()
